Introduction of high-quality graphite crucible production process

Dec 05, 2022

At present, the main raw material of graphite crucible used in my country's graphite thermal field is crystalline natural graphite. Therefore, it maintains various physical and chemical properties of natural graphite. That is: it has good thermal conductivity and high temperature resistance, and has a small thermal expansion coefficient during high temperature use, and has certain strain resistance to rapid heating and rapid cooling. It has strong corrosion resistance to acid and alkaline solution and has excellent chemical stability. Therefore, graphite crucibles are widely used in the smelting of alloy tool steel and the smelting of non-ferrous metals and their alloys in metallurgy, casting, machinery, chemical and other industrial sectors because of the above excellent properties. And has a good technical and economic effect.

The types of graphite crucibles are roughly divided into three categories: the first type is copper smelting crucible, its specification is "No."; There are 100 crucibles for three kinds of steelmaking.

The specification (size) of graphite crucible is usually indicated by the serial number. No. 1 crucible has a volume capable of melting 1000g of brass, and its weight is 180g. The melting amount of graphite crucibles when melting different metals or alloys can be calculated by multiplying the corresponding metal and alloy coefficients by the crucible’s bulk density specification number.

The production raw materials of graphite crucible can be summarized into three types. One is crystalline natural graphite, the other is plastic refractory clay, and the third is calcined hard kaolin-like skeleton clinker. In recent years, high-temperature-resistant synthetic materials have been used, such as silicon carbide, alumina diamond sand, and ferrosilicon, as the skeleton clinker of the crucible. This clinker has a significant effect on improving the quality of crucible products, enhancing the density and mechanical strength of the crucible.

There are three methods for molding graphite crucibles, the more primitive and ancient molding method is hand molding. The second is the rotational molding method and the third is the compression molding method.
