Production Selection Of Raw Materials For High-purity Graphite
Dec 19, 2022
Raw materials for the production of high purity graphite, including aggregates, binders and impregnating materials. Aggregate is usually made of needle petroleum coke and pitch coke, this is because needle petroleum coke has low ash content (usually less than 1%), easy graphitization at high temperature, good electrical and thermal conductivity, small coefficient of linear expansion, etc.
For pitch coke, even graphite obtained at the same graphitization temperature has higher resistivity and higher mechanical strength, so in the production of general graphitized products, in addition to petroleum coke, there is also a certain proportion of Pitch coke, in order to improve the mechanical strength of the product. The binder usually uses coal tar, which is a product in the distillation process of coal tar. It is a black solid at room temperature and has no fixed melting point.
According to the different equipment conditions and process requirements of each graphite product manufacturer, the softening point of coal tar pitch is 50°C to 250°C. Typically, high-purity or high-temperature coal tar pitch is chosen to produce high-purity graphite products. The impregnating agent is basically the same as the adhesive. There is a need to increase the bulk density, impermeability, lubricity, strength and other special properties of the product. It is required to add the impregnating material after baking, graphitizing or machining.
