What factors are related to the shrinkage rate of rubber O-rings?

Dec 15, 2022

As a common sealing auxiliary accessory, the rubber O-ring is also crucial to the shrinkage of the rubber O-ring. Let me share with you what factors are related to the shrinkage rate of the rubber O-ring?

1. It is related to the vulcanization temperature, the higher the temperature, the greater the shrinkage;

2. The smaller the filling dosage of rubber products, the larger the shrinkage rate;

3. The greater the rubber content of vulcanized products, the greater the shrinkage rate;

4. The lower the hardness of the sealing ring, the worse the plasticity of the rubber material and the greater the shrinkage rate;

5. The shrinkage rate in the calendering direction and the flow direction in the mold is generally greater than the shrinkage rate in the vertical direction;

6. The shrinkage rate of the small diameter O-ring is larger than that of the large diameter O-ring;

7. It is worth mentioning that when the forming mold is a porous cavity, the shrinkage rate of the vulcanized O-ring in the middle cavity is larger than that of the vulcanized product in the edge cavity.
