Six Application Modes Of Carbon Graphite Materials

Dec 04, 2022

Carbon graphite material is not a common material choice for ordinary consumers. Although many of us may not realize this, carbon graphite parts are used around us.
Refrigerated truck
Refrigerators are used to transport perishable goods nationwide. The refrigeration system on the trailer contains a carbon graphite seal in the compressor, which sucks in the gaseous refrigerant and compresses it before sending it to the condenser. Carbon graphite is chemically inert, enabling it to operate in low viscosity refrigerants and act as a seal to prevent toxic refrigerant gases from leaking into the environment.
Automobile turbocharger
The turbocharger is fitted to the vehicle's engine to help improve overall efficiency and performance. As more and more manufacturers try to find ways to improve efficiency and performance at the same time, turbochargers become more and more common, and larger engines are becoming a thing of the past. In order to make the turbocharger more efficient, variable vanes are used. This requires the actuator to penetrate the turbine casing, leading to potential leak points. Carbon graphite can withstand the high temperature of exhaust gas and engine, and acts as a seal to prevent CO 2 emissions from entering the atmosphere.
Barge pump
The shipping industry transports heavy or bulky goods around the world that are difficult to transport by other means. Barges can carry goods such as chemicals, coal, minerals and oil. Barge pumps are used to transfer materials from the barge to shore. These pumps are used to pump a variety of materials, and it is likely that the materials are unknown. Carbon graphite is used for barge pumps because it is chemically resistant and can handle any toxic chemicals/liquids being transported.
Rail contact
The railway system uses relays to operate the signaling system. The electrical relay contains electrical contacts that transmit current. In the process of transmitting current, an arc will occur between the two circuits. The arc will cause the metal parts to be welded together. This will lead to the failure of the railway signal system, which may be a very serious problem, because the signal controls the railway traffic flow through intersections, bridges, tunnels, etc. In order to prevent these contacts from welding together and causing the possibility of accidents, carbon graphite materials are used.
Commercial aircraft
Commercial aircraft are used to transport people and goods between countries and states. They are faced with high and low temperatures, rain, humidity, sand, dust and other environments. Carbon graphite provides many benefits for aircraft because of its light weight, environmental protection, durability, self-lubricating, oxidation resistance and high thermal conductivity It is usually used for air release valve, jet fuel pump and instrument, and shaft seal of aircraft. Improvements in carbon technology enable aircraft engine manufacturers to design more efficient engines, thereby improving fuel efficiency.
Spacecraft rocket booster pump
In order to separate the spacecraft from the gravity of the earth, the rocket booster is used to provide additional thrust by generating an explosion in the combustion chamber during lift off. To create this explosion, liquid fuel spacecraft use liquid forms of fuel and oxidants - liquid hydrogen (fuel) and liquid oxygen (oxidant). These liquid propellants need to be stored at low temperatures because their boiling point is close to - 450 ˚ F. Once combined in a high-pressure chamber, the combustion that propels the rocket away from the launch pad will experience temperatures in excess of 1000 ˚ F. In this case, carbon graphite can withstand these two extreme temperatures while maintaining an effective seal. In addition, its self-lubricating properties eliminate the need for traditional lubricants that can be cured at low temperatures. Since cryogenic fluids are very thin and have very low viscosity, it is possible for these fluids to enter the available pores of the seals and evaporate, leading to foaming of the components. However, when carbon graphite is used in combination with anti foaming impregnant, the material can withstand the low viscosity of oxidant to continue to operate successfully.
Carbon graphite materials are used in many applications around the world to enable us to advance with higher efficiency. Whether it is the rocket booster of a spacecraft, the turbocharger of an automobile or the annunciator of a train; Carbon graphite is present to help run these applications successfully, etc.
